Arthur stars Russell Brand and Helen Mirren

“I was a bit daunted,” screenwriter Peter Baynham says when he was asked to write a remake of one of his favorite films – the 1981 romantic comedy Arthur staring Dudley Moore. But then he met Russell Brand, and his mind was changed.  “I could really see him playing this character,” he says, and before long the characters and their relationships started to shape themselves into something new and interesting. Two years later, the film stars Russell Brand, Jennifer Garner and Helen Mirren. Script sat down with Baynham to discuss the challenge of writing an updated version of one of the most beloved romantic comedies of all time.
