“Write it Gay!” – Watch the Opening Number from the 2011 Writers Guild Awards

In case you missed it (and most of you probably did because, unfortunately, no network actually aired this), here’s the opening number from the 2011 Writers Guild Awards as performed by Modern Family‘s Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet.

Jesus, Snickering, I just spit my martini all over my screen…”Wake up, dear…” now that was funny.

I’m betting the network had a real problem with the “fuck” word and not so much the actual content. You still can’t say “fuck” on any network other than HBO and its offsprings, which is what makes those reruns of the Sopranos so damn funny when they hit the mainstream…

There’s probably a good reason WGA awards won’t get aired… writer depravity on stage. : )

But still hopefully someday a network will do so. This award show feels like a perfect fit for FX Networks.
